Is Your Mind Fat?

If a good part of your diet consists of junk food (i.e. high-fat, high sodium food), you know that it won’t be long before the scale starts yelling at you for your excess weight. More importantly, you know that eventually, you’ll suffer the health consequences of your poor choices.

Ultimately, your body has to function with the food you feed it. If you give it nothing to work with, it’ll do the best it can, but eventually, it’ll begin to sound the alarm.

The best thing you can do for yourself is feeding your body the nutrient it needs to sustain your health.

What is true of your body is also true of your mind—perhaps even more so. What you feed your mind matters. The content you consume makes a difference; it affects your mood, defines what your mind focuses on, influences your thinking patterns, etc.

Your mind is like a garden. What you plant in it will eventually produce fruit in your life—for good or bad. If you plant negativity, you’ll reap strife and problems. You can’t expect positive results in your life while feeding negativity to your mind. Negativity includes thoughts of fear, gossips, jealousy, envy, cynicism, etc. Those thoughts pollute your mind and thus your life.

Your mind is a precious asset and you must take good care of it. And part of this means consuming empowering content: content that helps you grow and become a better version of you; content that inspires you to overcome obstacles and pushes you to go to greater heights; content that expands your vision and motivates you to pursue ambitious goals.

Pay close attention to your information consumption. In fact, be intentional about feeding your mind empowering thoughts. Read empowering books, listen to inspiring audio recordings, watch educational videos. If you’re not a reader, listen or watch. Do what you have to do to feed your mind properly.

Your mind is your responsibility just as your body is. Ultimately, your life will reflect the way you treat your mind. If you want a great life, make sure you take good care of your mind.
