The Positive Attitude Challenge – Engineer Change

I clearly remember when email became mainstream. Before that, we were handwriting our correspondence and sending letters by mail. At that time, many people—in my circle, at least—were refusing to register for an email account; they found it too impersonal, they said. Some resisted for a long time but eventually had to give in. However, when they joined, they were a little behind everyone else and they had to catch up.

I have seen this pattern many times: people resisting change.

Change is inevitable. It’s an intricate part of life. Life is a stream of transitions: one transition after the next; one change follows another.

Seasons change. People change. Circumstances change.

You have no control on seasons. They come and go and come back, and you must learn to make the most of every.

You have some influence on people. But, in essence, they can change without giving you prior notice. Thus, you must learn to deal with people as they go through their seasons of change.

When it comes to circumstances, some just happen others you create. You must learn to embrace these changes and to foster positive change in your life.

In fact, if you’re going to do great things in the world, you can’t be afraid of change. You can’t avoid it. You can’t resist it. You must embrace it and engineer it.

Your attitude towards change matters; it determines whether or not you profit from it.

Most often, change happens to us: we’re not proactive in engineering it, and as a result, we miss out on a whole lot.

Great things happen when we navigate the stream of change, which leads us to new, uncharted lands.

Sometimes, we resist positive change because we get comfortable. We have our routines and don’t want anyone or anything to shake us out of them. But positive change is beneficial, and you must learn to recognize it and embrace it. Moreover, you must learn to intentionally engineer it in your life.

Change can be daunting; it requires that you step into the unknown and this can be frightening. Don’t allow change to frighten you or frustrate you.

When you inject a little bit of challenge in your life, you’re pushing yourself to launch into the deep sea of change.

Part of cultivating a positive attitude is learning to, not only embrace change but to engineer it, and when you do, you’ll be moving your life forward in leaps.

Daily Decision

Decide that, instead of dreading change, you’ll embrace it and even proactively engineer it to move your life forward.

Daily Challenge

Today, your challenge is to do something challenging that helps you engineer a positive change in your life.

It could be as simple as changing your standard workout at the gym and try another class that is a little more challenging than your standard one. It could be reading a different kind of book than the ones you usually read.

Really, your options are endless. The important thing is that you seek to proactively foster positive change in your life: grow, expand your horizons, inject the new into your life.

Daily Affirmation

I embrace and engineer change.
