The Primary Reason it Takes Time to Achieve Remarkable Results

We want results, and we wanted them yesterday. That is to say, that, usually, we want to achieve the specific results (e.g., lose 60 pounds, build a profitable business, master a craft, etc.) in the shortest time possible. If we could get what we want in an instant, most of us would be delighted.

However, we know that is not the case. Remarkable results take time. Birthing a baby is about a 40-week process. That’s the time it takes for babies to get formed in their mother’s womb. And you can’t speed up that process. You must go through it if you want the baby.

Similarly, it takes time to grow a tree. It takes about 6 to 10 years for an apple seed to grow into a tree and begin to bear apples. That’s the time it takes. And during all that time, the tree needs water, sun, and its nutrients to continue its development.

There lies the primary reason it takes time to achieve remarkable results: remarkable results take time because personal growth takes time. That is, it takes us time to grow into the person we must become to produce and sustain the specific result we desire.

Developing the skills, mindset, discipline, and character necessary to achieve remarkable results takes time, dedication, and focus.

When you set your aim at an ambitious goal, be prepared for massive personal growth. At the end of your journey, you’ll be a different person (i.e., you’ll have grown tremendously).

When you see someone who has achieved remarkable results, you are seeing someone who has paid the price by going through a process of growth; and that process took time (and usually that time was away from the limelight). Don’t let the ease with which they now produce their result deceive you. Behind that ease, there are hours and hours of investment.

Like the apple tree, before you can produce delicious fruit, you must grow deep roots. If your roots aren’t deep enough, you won’t withstand the winds that come with achieving remarkable results. You’ll disappear like leaves to the wind.

The time you spend on personal growth yields favorable return; you’re the common denominator to all your personal goals. And when you grow, you become the person you need to be to achieve remarkable results.
