Why You Must Find Ways to Add Value to Others

Your gifts, talents, and skills are meant to serve and benefit others. One of your aims in life should be to use your abilities to add as much value as possible in others’ lives; true fulfillment springs from serving others to the best of your abilities.

You’re endowed with great potential, and that potential is meant to make a difference in the world. Your greatness is meant to be shared with others.

Think about it. What would be the point of being a good teacher, if you have no one to teach? What would be the point of being a good musician, if you have no one to appreciate your music? Your abilities are your equipment for service.

The way to greatness is service. Jesus said, “But whoever desires to be great among you, let him be your servant.” A heart of service is a central key to a life of significance.

What can you do to add extraordinary value in the lives of people around you (e.g., family, friends, coworkers, clients, etc.)? What can you do to serve your community, organization, or nation better? How can you use your experience and expertise to provide solutions that others need? How can you help them move their lives forward and achieve their goals?

You may think that you have little to offer. However, no matter how little, your contribution can make a difference in someone’s life. You weren’t meant to die with your treasures still locked inside you. Your greatness must be expressed an used to serve others. In fact, the best of who you are shines through when you serve others selflessly.

All around you, people have needs, which you can help meet–if you care enough to serve. There are a million ways to add value to people lives. You must find the ways that match your skill set and interests.

You may not make the cover of a magazine or become a household name. Nevertheless, you can touch the lives of people who cross your path. With your abilities, you can solve problems people face and add extraordinary value to their lives.
