Why You Must Increase Your Level of Consistency

Achieving remarkable results takes time. You don’t start today and reach your goal tomorrow. Nothing significant is accomplished overnight. No one reaches great goals without a fair dose of consistent work. As they say, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”

When you see professional athletes or musicians or academics or whatever else performing the craft with skill, you’re contemplating the result of a long process. Long before the spotlight comes on them, professionals work hard and put in the hours and sweat equity required to achieve remarkable results. And it won’t be any different for you.

To succeed in your chosen field, you must put in the work—consistently. The regular installments of effort add up to produce great results. When you show up every day and do the work, you have a shot at achieving remarkable results.

What one activity, if you performed it more consistently, would have the greatest positive impact on your results?

When you answer this question, you find the key to propelling your results to the next level. When you identify the activity (or activities) that have the most impact on your results and focus your effort on them consistently, you unlock the door to great success.

However, if you don’t consistently show up, you have no shot at great results. The good news is that you can decide to “show up.” In other words, your consistency is in your hands, no one else’s.

You increase your level of consistency when you “show up” and do the work, day after day, even though you don’t feel like it. You increase your level of consistency when you take action despite obstacles and opposition. You increase your consistency when you take responsibility for your outcomes. You increase your level of consistency when you choose delayed gratification over immediate gratification. You increase your level of consistency when you commit to becoming the best that you can be.

There is no replacement for consistency. If you’re ready to take your results to the next level, you must increase your level of consistency.
