You Are Meant to Fly

Caterpillars don’t fly; they “slide”. No matter how hard they try, they won’t fly—at least, not until they become butterflies. When they transform into butterflies, their experience changes: they begin to fly and can now go further faster.

You may aspire to experience something different in your life, but, like the caterpillar, very little will change until you change: until you grow and become an improved version of yourself.

To experience a new reality, you must embrace a new mentality. Not that you need to deny your personality or change your identity. But you must go through a sort of transformation and grow. Your mindset must change. Your habits must change. Your circle might need to change. Your thinking must go from caterpillar to butterfly thinking: from “sliding” to “flying”; from “limited” to “unlimited”; from “scarcity” to “abundance”.

Your current results are directly linked to the person you are right today, and if you want greater results, you’ll need to become a greater version of yourself.

If you have compelling vision or goal or dream, you’ll have to change to accomplish it. That’s what will be required if you are to see your vision through.

Like the hero’s journey, in the process of pursuing your vision, you face obstacles, have to overcome setbacks, are forced to deal with discouragement, have to push through opposition—and all these challenges demand that you grow. If you refuse to grow, you get stuck. As Albert Einstein said, “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.”

The person you are at the start of the journey isn’t the person you’ll be at the end.

Your resistance to change might very well be your biggest challenge; the process of growth can be hard. External factors (i.e. lack of money, lack of support, etc.) aren’t your biggest challenge; internal factors are (i.e. your mindset, your habits, etc).

It’s easy to get comfortable and set in your ways. But if you want different results, you must behave in a different way: you must grow. To raise your life to a new level, your mind must rise to a new level.

Is your vision compelling enough to push you to grow? Is it powerful enough to cause you to do the work you need to do to become a improve version of you?

You are meant to fly, but to get there, you’ll have to go through the cocoon of growth.
